Build a Shaker-Style Bench
January 25, 2020 @ 10:00 am – 5:00 pm
NOTE: This project takes place over two full days. At least two persons must enroll by Jan. 22 for the class to be held.
Learn how to build a small, elegant two-person Shaker-style bench with mortise and tenon joinery, using a combination of power and hand tools. This bench works equally well as a display stand or as extra seating at your dinner table.
We’ll start with cutting everything to dimension, then prepare and glue up the bench top. Next, we’ll cut the aprons and cut the tenons on the aprons. Then we’ll shape the legs and cut the mortises in the legs. Next, we’ll assemble and trim the “under carriage” (the leg and apron assembly). Finally, we’ll do touch-up work on the bench top and assemble the bench. After assembly, we’ll apply finish.
Cost: $250 plus tax. All materials provided.
