Make a Cutting Board

Held every month on the third Thursday at 6:30 pm. Students will schedule Part 2 individually at their convenience. see all

Make a classic cutting board using contrasting hardwoods. You get to choose your woods and design your board as you like. Choose the two-person ticket to make one project together with a friend!

Skill level: Beginner
Cost: $55-65 plus tax

Session 1:
We'll show you how to design and lay out your board for visual appeal and strength. Choose your woods and glue up/clamp the pieces. Note: average board size is 1 to 1.5 inches thick and approximately 10 inches wide by 14 inches long. Boards must remain clamped for at least 12 hours before step two:

Session 2:
Takes 1-2 hours. (Participants will designate a time slot during session 1.) Plane, trim and sand the board, add a groove or shape the edges if desired, then finish with food-safe oil.

Tools used:

  • Table saw and planer (with assistance)
  • Random orbital sanders
  • Router (optional)
