Woodturning: Making Handles
September 21, 2020 @ 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm MDT
NOTE: Class is limited to 2 participants.
PREREQUISITE: Intro to Woodturning class or equivalent basic experience with the lathe.
You can turn handles on the lathe for everything, from tools to kitchen utensils. Dovetail resident Don Roden will lead you through the basics of this spindle technique, and you’ll make a small item to take home. Project options may include ice cream or coffee scoops, bottle openers, letter openers, or pizza cutters.
- We recommend you wear a high-necked shirt, smock or jacket to keep out wood shavings. Choose fabric that will release shavings and dust easily, such as denim or broadcloth. Avoid sweaters and fleece.
- Be sure your footwear is comfortable enough for at least 2 hours of standing. Closed-toe, slip resistant shoes or boots required.
