Class details
Class meets on BOTH Sunday, April 12, and Sunday, April 19
from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm
SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate to Advanced
PREREQUISITES: Shop Orientation strongly encouraged, or proficiency with the table saw, jointer, planer, bandsaw, plunge router
In this two-day workshop, we’ll dive into the techniques, skills, and design principles used in crafting doors with the rail-and-stile method. While we will focus primarily on full-sized doors, the foundational skills you learn here can easily be applied to making cabinet doors, too.
This workshop will be conducted as a team build. Class participants will collaborate on building two doors that will be installed here in our workshop for individual studio spaces.
Although you won’t have your own door to take home, you will develop essential skills such as resawing, milling wood to precision, cutting dados, and using a router safely and effectively. We’ll also delve into mortise and tenon joinery, along with sanding and finishing.
You’ll get hands-on experience using various tools, including the jointer, planer, drum sander, table saw, bandsaw, plunge router, and miter saw. (Please note, this is not a class for novices.)
Class Tuition: $400
