Whether you’re working on furniture, boxes, or cutting boards, the final finish can make or break a project. This course offers a comprehensive introduction to the art and science of wood finishing. Finishing is one of the most critical—and often overlooked—aspects of woodworking.
We will cover a wide range of finishing options, including oils, waxes, shellac, lacquer, polyurethane, and more. Students will learn how to select the right finish for a given project, how to properly prepare wood surfaces, and how to apply finishes with confidence and consistency. We'll also help you develop an understanding of the characteristics of different finishes, as well as practical demonstrations and hands-on practice.
