PREREQUISITES: Skilled in using the table saw and other woodworking power tools
If you're ready to venture into fine furniture making, this is the project for you. Craft an elegant floating-top console table in cherry or mahogany during this two-day intensive course. Both power tools and hand tools will be used. Techniques include gluing up a panel for the top, adding a beveled edge, cutting and fitting mortise and tenon joints, attaching the top with dowels and figure-8 fasteners, and crafting tapered legs. We will apply a one-step clear, protective finish here in the workshop.
Tools used: table saw, miter saw, band saw, router, drill press, benchtop mortiser, hand planes, chisels.
Final dimensions: About 48" long x 15" wide x 36" tall
PLEASE NOTE: The instruction will focus on following the plan, completing the cut list, joinery techniques, and shaping the pieces. Depending on your individual pace, you may complete some of the assembly on your own.
