Intro to the Laser Engraver

Lasers have added a high-tech dimension to modern woodworking! In this class, you'll learn the fundamentals of cutting and engraving flat designs, including laser safety guidelines. Then, you’ll learn the basic procedures for setting up a project on the computer and transferring it to the laser. Finally, you'll create a cool custom sign to keep!

This class meets over two separate days.

Session 1

Wednesday, Oct 1: 6-8 pm

This session will focus on safety, machine care, and preparing your design on the computer.

Session 2 by appointment: About 2 hours

To be scheduled for the following Saturday or Sunday whenever possible.

You will set up your own project from start to finish, first on the computer and then the laser. Please bring a dust mask or respirator to protect against smoke inhalation. Laser safety glasses will be provided.

This class is a prerequisite to advanced laser classes to come.
