Joinery Series: Lap & Bridle Joints

Half-lap and bridle joints are similar to mortise and tenon construction -- they both use overlapping pieces to give the joint more surface area for strength. Some woodworkers prefer this style of joint in furniture because it produces exposed joinery that lends visual appeal to your project. 

We'll demonstrate the basic technique, give guidelines for dimensions, and talk about the types of projects in which you may use these joints.
