PREREQUISITE: Intro to Woodturning class or recent basic experience with the lathe
THIS IS A TWO-PART CLASS.
Part 1: Friday, Feb 27, 6-9 pm
Part 2: Saturday, Feb 28, 3-6 pm
Discover the art of turning a bowl on the lathe, learning the essential techniques required to shape and refine a blank into a beautiful piece. We'll introduce you to the tools and accessories necessary for bowls, including sturdy chucks that securely hold your workpiece, faceplates for mounting, and specialized gouges designed for precision carving and smoothing. What begins as raw wood will be transformed into stunning, functional art.
Face shields are provided in class; dust masks are recommended (not provided). Wear a high-necked shirt or smock to keep shavings out. You must be able to stand for most of the class time.
