Basics of Woodworking
This four-class series introduces you to the basic tools and skills you'll use in most woodworking projects. Participants will make a box from a provided plan.

NOTE: This is a three-part class that features substantial use of the table saw. Participants must complete the Shop Orientation class prior to the start of this course. End grain cutting boards are prized for their durability and self-healing qualities. And they make a beautiful addition to your kitchen! In this workshop you will make a board out of at least 2 contrasting hardwoods.

Learn to identify many types of softwoods and hardwoods, domestic and exotic, in this free workshop! We'll talk about the qualities of each variety, how to tell them apart, what to look for when buying wood, and which woods are right for different types of projects.

Skill level: Beginner
Make a classic cutting board using contrasting hardwoods. You get to choose your woods and design your board as you like in the first session. Then, you'll return after 24 hours to trim, sand, and finish with food-safe oil. Choose the two-person ticket to make one project together with a friend! All materials provided.
