This four-class series introduces you to the basic tools and skills you'll use in most woodworking projects, along with design guidance and safety considerations. Participants will make a box from a provided plan. Now enrolling for October (Tuesday evenings) and November (Saturday mornings).
Sept. 23: Pro Tips for Sanding
Take the mystery out of sanding -- learn the correct process and techniques for getting wood smooth. Learn about types of sanders, how to know when you're ready to stain, and more with this clinic. Skill level: Beginner.
Sept. 27: FREE! Makers' Happy Hour - BYOB (click to RSVP) 21+ only
For our September social we'll have demonstrations on woodturning on the lathe, carving spoons by hand, and a preview of fall and Halloween projects you can make at Dovetail. Bring a beverage of your choice -- alcohol is allowed, BYOB only. Dovetail will not be serving alcohol. Bring a friend for a fun, alternative night out! 21+ event.
Sept. 29: Intro to Hand Planing
Hand planes are an essential woodworking tool. You'll learn the techniques required to achieve a smooth finish with hand planes, and we'll discuss the many varieties of planes and their uses. Skill level: Beginner.
